The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad officially declared Bushra Bibi’s house in Bani Gala a temporary jail until further notice.
Bushra Bibi, who got a 14-year sentence in the Toshakhana case, has been moved to Bani Gala, Imran Khan’s home in Islamabad, which is now acting like a temporary jail, according to ARY News.
The ex-first lady willingly went to a special court in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took her into custody. The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad officially declared Bushra Bibi’s house in Bani Gala a temporary jail until further notice.
A notice explains this, stating, “The Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory is pleased to declare the residence of convict Bushra Bibi (Residential Compound, Khan House Banigala, Mohra Noor, Islamabad) as Sub-Jail till further orders.”
Bani Gala is now under strict security with jail staff inside, and the Islamabad Police keeping watch outside Imran Khan’s house, as reported by ARY News.
Imran Khan and his wife were given a 14-year jail term by a court in the Toshakhana case. Not only did the court order imprisonment, but it also banned Khan from holding any public office for 10 years. Additionally, the couple was fined PKR 1.573 billion.
The Toshakhana case stirred significant debate in national politics after the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified the PTI chief last year, accusing him of making false statements and incorrect declarations, according to ARY News.
