A couple escapes death in two different plane crashes that happened just a few miles apart on the same day on their way to Turin, Italy.
A couple went through two different plane crashes that happened just a few miles apart on the same day. Stefano Pirilli, 30, and his fiancé Antonietta Demasi, 22, were on their way to Turin, Italy, when their planes went down, causing terrifying moments.
As Mr. Pirilli’s plane was going down, Ms. Demasi’s plane also faced trouble shortly after. Firefighters quickly rescued both of them from the crash sites. Amazingly, the couple and the pilots, including Ms. Demasi’s pilot Paolo Rotondo, 38, survived the incidents. Ms. Demasi had a pelvic injury, and pilot Rotondo had a head wound, according to the Daily Mail. Mr. Pirilli came out unharmed from the wreckage of a two-seater Tecnam P92 Echo Super.
Antonietta had never flown before, Mr. Pirilli mentioned, expressing regret for how it all turned out. He shared that their day started beautifully but ended with both of them crashing in separate planes. He emphasized how fortunate they were to survive and expressed sympathy for the injured pilots.
Sunday seemed perfect for flying with blue skies, sunshine, and no clouds, he recalled. It was an ideal day to enjoy the air. Now, Mr. Pirilli just wanted his girlfriend and the pilot to recover.
Reflecting on what led to the crashes, he explained, “We got caught by the weather and the time – the mist started to come up as the temperature dropped, and suddenly it was night.” They decided to try landing at Busano, and Mr. Pirilli informed Antonietta. Her pilot said they would land near San Gillio. As they headed to the airstrip, they got surrounded by mist and darkness. With electricity cables around, they crashed into a meadow, Mr. Pirilli described.
Despite the challenging situation, Mr. Pirilli focused on the well-being of his fiancé and the pilot. He managed to call emergency services and tried calling Antonietta, but there was no answer. Firefighters arrived, noting how crazy it was that this was their second plane crash. “I rushed straight to the hospital and have been there ever since. I just hope Antonietta and Paolo get out of the hospital soon,” he added.
