Dietician Khushboo Gupta from India expressed her dismay at an Indigo flight, labeling it her “worst experience” after discovering a live worm in her sandwich. Gupta criticized the airline for its declining food quality and service, sharing a disturbing video of the incident on Instagram.
Gupta, based in Delhi, recounted her Indigo flight from the national capital to Mumbai, India, on December 29. Despite pre-booking and paying for a veg sandwich, Gupta was appalled to find a live worm crawling on it after taking a bite. Adding to the distress, the flight attendant responded casually when Gupta requested informing other passengers about the incident so they could make an informed decision about their food.
Expressing concern for other passengers, Gupta questioned the decision to serve sandwiches to others despite knowing their subpar quality. She highlighted the potential health risks, especially for kids and elderly passengers.
When Gupta informed the flight attendant about the worm, the response was lackluster, with a simple promise to replace the sandwich and bring the issue to the concerned department’s attention later. The flight attendant returned with another food item, which Gupta declined, emphasizing that passengers should have been made aware before her.
Gupta concluded by stating that she wasn’t seeking a refund or compensation but urged Indigo to prioritize passenger safety over everything else.
In response, Indigo acknowledged the issue and assured corrective measures. The airline stated that the specific sandwich in question was immediately withdrawn from service upon investigation. They emphasized their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food and beverage service and apologized for any inconvenience caused to the passenger.
